For whom is the therapy program at DHTGC beneficial?

The DHT program is beneficial for all individuals with a developmental disorder.

What is the cost of the therapy program?

The prices for our 2010/2011 season are:

  1. US$ 5400 for a 10-session therapy program
  2. US$ 8100 for a 15-session therapy program
  3. US$ 10800 for a 20-session therapy program

What is included in the therapy costs?

The therapy price includes:

  1. Daily therapy sessions
  2. Daily parent/therapist meetings
  3. Initial review of patient records, prior therapy, medical records and reports from other professionals
  4. Parent Orientation
  5. Family Swim
  6. Family Barbecue and Social Events
  7. Individualized parent consultations and parent workshops
  8. Music/rhythm and classroom sessions
  9. Final therapy report & session summaries
  10. A photo CD with therapy pictures

Do parents or other family members go in the water with the dolphins?

Yes. Parents, siblings or other family members will be invited to swim with the dolphins on orientation day and will have the great chance to experience a swim with the dolphins. On all other therapy days the participant will go into the water with the therapist and the dolphin by his/herself.

Do you provide accommodations?

No, we do not provide accommodations. However there is a huge variety of excellent hotels and condominiums on Grand Cayman you can book for your stay on island and DHT will be happy to assist you with information about places to stay.

What is the quality of the medical care on Grand Cayman like?

The medical standard in Grand Cayman is to compare with the standard in Europe or the US. Grand Cayman has one main hospital (The Cayman Island Hospital), one private hospital (The Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital) and numerous medical professionals of which a lot are multilingual.

How is the living situation of the dolphins?

Our six Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins live in a natural ocean lagoon which is located on North Bay and feeds directly into the Caribbean Sea. Several professionals take care of the wellbeing of our dolphins and treat them with love and respect.

What populations or diagnoses do you have experience working with?

Dolphin Human Therapy has conducted therapy with thousands of individuals, from 60 different countries, representing more than 70 diagnoses. Autism (including the entire autistic spectrum), cerebral palsy and Down syndrome are the most common diagnoses. DHTGC will conduct therapy with any individual that has a developmental disability.

Will siblings be involved in the therapy program?

Yes. DHT is a family interactive therapy program and we truly believe in the involvement of the whole family. The involvement will depend on each individual, their family and will be worked out with the professionals during the time of therapy.

Do I need a visa?

Visitors of most countries do not require a visa to enter the Cayman Islands for a stay up to 30 days. These visitors need a passport that is valid for at least six more months after date of return. However, there are some nationalities that require a visa to enter the Cayman Islands. For more information please visit Cayman Islands Immigration

Which currencies are accepted in the Cayman Islands?

The national currency in Grand Cayman is the Cayman Dollar (CI$). The US dollar is accepted throughout the islands at a rate of CI 80 cents, as well. ATM“s accepting VISA and MasterCard with Cirrus affiliation are located throughout the islands and at Owen Roberts International Airport.
